Am I living or dying? I’m alive, therefore, I am living. Whatever our age, whatever our physical state of being, while we are alive we are living and we can live life to the full. Having a life-limiting illness or disease or a physical disability does not prevent us from deepening our understanding of who we are and the reflection we can offer to those around us. |
Being alive doesn’t mean we are expected to climb a mountain, run a marathon, prepare and cook a meal for twenty or be chairperson of an international business. So, what does it mean?
When someone holds our hand or touches us they can feel the warmth of our being. As a new-born baby we cannot communicate in words but when we are held we feel the love of the embrace. Throughout our lives it is this connection with each other that is the foundation of all our relationships.
Living and life are about people.
Life is about learning to live in harmony and connection with those who share this time on Earth with us. During a lifetime we have many experiences that offer an opportunity to feel what is true and what is not and, if we have lived many years, we have a wealth of understanding to share with others.
We may find that some things that we believed turn out to be fairy tales or figments of our imagination and some things that we doubted turn out to be true, often with a realisation that we knew this all along.
When we know we may have little time left in this life it is people that are important to us and all the ‘things’ and possessions that we may have accumulated are of little or no significance. This is a valuable lesson for us all to learn, so forming loving relationships and friendships with family, friends, work colleagues and all we meet builds a treasure chest of love for all to share.
Love does not die with our physical body but is felt by all who shared the love with you.
We may never have met our great grandparents, or even our grandparents, but we can feel the love they shared with their children and friends and this thread of love passes through us and we, in our turn, share it with the next generation.
So the more we love, the more love there is in the world.
And that’s worth living for, as Love is Forever.
