WORKING THROUGH LIFE - YOUAN COIBASIC

30/1/2020

How many of us are truly accepting of the ageing process and how our body changes? In this video recording Youan expresses his deep acceptance of the ageing process, from how he viewed it as a young boy as a natural part of life, to now recognising that he has nothing to prove as he once might have. Youan is still working and enjoying his work. He reflects on how he is learning to work in a way that is appropriate as he ages, and supports him to take care of his body. The simplicity of his approach and pragmatic acceptance of the ageing process is deeply felt.

Youan is not alone in working younger and harder than his age would readily give consent to. Yet how beautiful to feel his acceptance of his age and that it doesn’t stop him from working and contributing in life. It’s like there we are sold an all or nothing approach to ageing - you’ve either got to compete with the younger generations or give up, retire and stay out of sight, Our value deepens with age, with less there is more, when the quality of how we age is considered.

Like you Peta I was feeling Youan's acceptance and how beautiful that is when so many people find the ageing process challenging. Learning to see life as an unfolding and ongoing cycle makes so much difference to the way we age, and pass over. We also become a wonderful reflection for those around us - young and old alike.
