QUALITY OF LIVING

Our Topic of Conversation continues with Quality of Living. Not to be confused with ‘standard of living’, which is more about our financial status and how that allows us to physically live, such as our shelter, food, and clean water.

‘Quality of living’ refers to how we move and our inner settlement.

It’s about being aware of how we are feeling within, and to what level are we caring for ourselves and those we share our space with, therefore becoming less imposing upon humanity at large and the planet.

For instance, one of the ways we can enhance our quality of living is to ensure we get adequate and quality sleep by reducing the level of stimulation in the evenings and being in bed prior to 9pm. This rhythm will set us up to wake the next morning feeling refreshed and ready to do a solid day’s work without feeling depleted.

Another beautiful way to develop quality of living is to address our emotional issues and any hurts we may have been carrying around with us for years so that we’re not indulging in emotional outbursts, judgement of ourselves and others and playing the blame game while not taking responsibility for our part in arguments. When we have less reaction and angst in our lives, our quality of living is boosted enormously.

Of course, there are many ways we can increase our quality of living, as highlighted by some of our wonderful authors, who are writing about their understanding and experience around quality of living.

We invite you to join us in this valuable discussion and share how you feel about your quality of living.

The two writers featured this month have expressed how the connection we make to our essence within will affect the way we live, our relationships with our self and with others. The quality of our relationships can be rich and loving, or poor and conflicted. Learning to value our part in every interaction, every activity we experience, even when alone at home, is accepting responsibility for our quality of living. It is not something to put effort into, it is more like a surrender to our true harmony and our true nature. When we hold this equanimity everyone receives the blessing offered.

Often quality of life is seen as the quality of the material world around us like our car, house, holidays, clothes, number of friends not matter how superficial they are. If that is high quality our inner world/quality can still be utterly poor.
The true quality is found in the inner qualities of a person. Is there harmony, joy, a rich and enriching energy felt, is there purpose, honesty and transparency in the person's life, deep connections with other people and a love for self and humanity? With all these riches the outside world is of no importance.

Quality of living comes from being within the body. I know that because when I become still inside myself and feel the depth of presence within, and then move from there into any task in the day, there is a difference from when I move unconsciously without that awareness and connection to my body.

I’ve realised it is the gradual practice of aligning mind, body, and soul, (the Yoga of Stillness) which brings about the natural flow of movement that is spontaneous, can be slow or fast and yet always purposeful and coming from a deep connection within me ~ my Inner Essence.

When I re-connect with this quality of energy within, I feel my quality of movement enhanced. Sometimes I find I am moving in this way without focussing on it. It is not “achieved” through effort or trying or mental learning, it comes about from connecting to my Soul. Living in this way I feel a joy deep inside and a feeling of well-being as I age.

Perhaps the most significant change I have made over recent years has been in my quality of living – how I live every day and in every moment of the day (to the best of my ability!). I never expected to be saying this in my elder years, but every aspect of my life has changed for the better. And I owe it all to the teachings of The Ageless Wisdom. These teachings showed me a way to live in harmony with myself and with life, and it has turned my world around. My inner and outer life, emotional, physical and energetic well-being, have expanded, deepened and improved beyond measure. I live with more awareness, more settlement in my inner-being, more love, care and respect for myself and others, more enrichment in life, and with that more purpose and joy. When many feel the quality of their life diminishing in their elder years, I can truly say that mine has expanded. It is not so much the quality of 'life' but the quality of 'living' that matters. How I live in every moment of every day, with conscious presence and awareness, with connection to and love for the people around me, understanding the purpose of life and living from my inner essence, this is what brings 'quality of living'. It is a most joyful blessing.

Wow Judy! What you have so very beautifully and succinctly shared here sums it up for me too.

It's the quality of movement that I align with in every moment that determines the quality of my thoughts, and therefore how I'm going to be and feel in myself and with others. This has been life changing for me to really understand the magnitude of this simple teaching.
