When we consider how our body is doing we often think of it purely in functional terms. We might use such terms as fit, toned, not so fit, weak, tired, sluggish or energetic and vital. There are many different ways that we might describe our physical body and these may change as we age or try out sports or exercise regimes or maybe just depending on how we are feeling that day. |
But do we ever consider our self as being more than a physical being and that through our body we receive a reflection of us being grander than we allow ourselves to feel?
Our body is wise in its ability to communicate with us in each and every moment but how often are we choosing to listen?
Could it be that we let our head, eyes, media pictures or our own pictures of how we think we ought to look or be, get in the way and drive the show leaving our body disconnected from its natural multidimensional way of being? What can happen instead is that we lose connection to an intelligence that can support us not just on a physical level but in a way that can guide us through all aspects of our life.
Connect exercise is based on three principles:
Connect Classes often start with a little anatomy followed by gentle awareness and sensory exercises in lying, sitting or standing. Movements are minimal and they invite you on an inward journey to feel your body from the inside out, moving with no drive or push but with tenderness and grace. The exercises develop structural harmony for the entire body.
Here some participants share their experiences:
Sole Connect: Mary
What I have received so clearly from the Sole Connect sessions, beginning with bringing my attention to my feet, is the realisation of the amount of tension that I was carrying within my body. I felt so intensely within my whole being that tension was there just below the surface, something that I had never got to before. To feel this and to let it go has been a blessing. In turn it has brought up a feeling of vulnerability within me, as well as greater understanding, awareness and acceptance of who I really am.
Pelvic Floor Connect: Beverley
Jane, what you have brought through to us is quite amazing and has changed my whole knowledge and feeling for the pelvic area. It was the taboo topic when I was growing up, never talked about. It was part of the fear that I was brought up with about boys etc. How freeing it has been for me to be able to actually feel this area. When I connect to it, I now immediately feel the huge sacredness that we women hold in that area, and yes, I can actually feel it now, whereas it didn't really exist for me before. A gorgeous wave goes through my body, and I just melt. I look forward to our next session together.
Head and Neck Connect: Bernadette
Head and neck classes are a beautiful way to support us to deeply honour our delicateness, and to really appreciate the structure of the body, and how we can support ourselves simply by giving ourselves moments to check in, when we wake up and throughout the day, so we can feel how our body is feeling. The very gentle and subtle movements that you gave us Jane, allowed me to feel parts of the body I hadn’t really connected with before. For example how precious are our clavicles! I know that my body has had to carry decades of tension and stress due to overriding it as a younger woman. It is really beautiful at this age to know that I can enjoy, appreciate and honour my body deeply, as my best friend, en-housing the soul.
Connect classes may involve exercising specific parts of the body such as the feet, the pelvic floor, or the head and neck area, as above, but this is always carried out in full awareness that each part belongs to and integrates with a greater whole and thus the whole body.
As these participants have discovered, this awareness of the body allows much to be released and it inspires us to have a deeper connection with ourselves. Establishing structural harmony with Connect Classes accesses the amazing wisdom of our bodies and supports our natural multidimensional way of being.

Connect exercise is based on three principles:
- Each of us has a body that is very wise and in constant communication with us.
- The more we connect to our body the more we can access its innate wisdom
- The more we surrender our bodies, honouring the truth that in essence we are gentle and tender in every way, the more our body can let go of old patterns that do not belong and realign to a more natural way of being.
