At this time of Covid-19 restrictions we need to make sure we are maintaining the strength and balance in our bodies, particularly as we are not able to get out and about like we normally can. Simple exercise routines make the world of difference to Staying Able for everyday life, so when we come out of this period of isolation, we are as fit and strong as when we entered it. |
Stephen Gammack is a qualified exercise instructor who has considerable experience and understanding of the ageing body and how targeted exercise can support us to remain strong and fit for life. Stephen understands the connection between a fit body and psychological health.
In Stephen’s words:
I work with a lot of older clients offering Strength & Balance classes, and it has been important to keep offering something for them during this period of lockdown. They all told me they were desperate to keep active and wanted to keep doing my classes, so I have put together a twenty minute free introductory session as well as a six week online program that you can book and pay for.
At Soulfit we have recently released a FREE older adult Strength & Balance video which is 10 specific moves to help you keep active as you get older. You don’t need any special gym equipment, just a chair. There are different options for each exercise depending on your level of strength and fitness.
This Strength & Balance home exercise video for seniors supports you to maintain good physical health. The exercises included are evidence-based to improve balance and increase strength. To try the Free workout you can click here.
If you enjoyed this 20 minute home workout you may like to enrol in the Strength & Balance program. At Soulfit we are now commencing this new six week program for adults aged 60+ which is focused on building Strength & Balance. Classes will be available anytime via the recordings. You can book the 60+ class by clicking here.
For these sessions I won't use bands in case anyone doesn't have access to them. But I will use dumbbells. If you don't have dumbbells you can use water-bottles or similar and also an exercise mat for some gentle floor exercises. I can also teach how to get safely down and up from the floor for those who need.
