When the UK Government advised all those over 70 years of age to stay home due to the Coronavirus, my spirit railed against it. At 75 I am well, fit, active, still working, getting out there in the community where there was so much to do, and I felt frustrated at the thought of submission to this advice. |
Slowly, though, it began to settle in my body that this was not about me, not about demonstrating to the world that it is natural to be truly well because I follow The Way of the Livingness (gosh that reads so arrogantly!). Not even about the service to humanity I was offering in my place of work.
Then it was decided for me, as my workplace (a children’s hospice) implemented the Government advice and sent me home for 12 weeks. And I became obedient. I can still serve. I can still be available for community service in a network of telephone contacts to support those who have to self-isolate because of Covid-19.
And what a gift I have been given! Time to explore further the true me, to walk my walk, deepen, and, in isolation, become more at one with all.
The true me is not 75, I am an ageless being in a body that just happens to have been on this planet for 75 years. It has served me well, and through following The Way of the Livingness I have been able to make choices that support my body. And when I walk in that Livingness I re-imprint any footsteps from the past which were walked in disregard. It comes to me, and fills me with ineffable love and appreciation of something I know deeply beyond words, that the footsteps I make now, if true, will be of service and will reflect back to my place of work. I am still there through that connection to my walk. I am still one with them all. More than that, I am still one with The All.
There is no call to ‘do’ anymore, I simply have to walk in my truth.
