THE LEADERSHIP TRANCE – BY NEIL GAMBLE

28/12/2021

In the last few months, most of the Joy of Ageing team found themselves all reading the same book: The Leadership Trance – and all of us by Neil Gamble.

The Leadership Trance is packed with real life examples of what the author has lived and discovered about our current way of life. It is a book full of facts and figures which many readers will recognise and others will find eye-opening and truly surprising.
Yes, this can be hard to read about because we then have to admit what we have taken for granted and how bad things really are. Some parts of the book will be challenging, but the reward is in immersing yourself in the flow of how the author has lived and evolved, shining a light in the dark corners, unearthing what we are afraid to admit.

In the words of the author:

“What is clear is that once we become more aware, more willing to know and once we are not held back by the imposed-by-education ideals and beliefs, we become intuitively open and connected to the wisdom of a universal order.”
In the words of those reading the book:

“Having had a very comfortable family life and successful and varied executive career, in recent years the author has gradually perceived that the bubble he was living in was not in fact ‘it’ and is now absolutely convinced that the current way of mankind is nowhere close to what it should be or could be.  As he became more aware of what was happening in society generally, it gradually became clear that corruption is endemic and has deep foundations in everything our temporal life offers. The book is not about trying to find solutions but about exposing that nothing in humanity’s lived ways is worth tweaking, adjusting, amending, or finessing as it is all too broken. The author asserts that we need a completely new formula – a paradigm shift!

"
Early in the book the author observes that ‘this book is not for everyone’, yet this book should be prescribed reading for all those who are beginning to wake up to the fact that the current way we are living in the world is no longer working. In the author’s words, ‘Once the bigger, universal picture has been seen, it is impossible to unsee it.’

“Neil Gamble goes there and exposes the establishment that he helped create. The book also provides some insights into what ‘it’ can be. An informative and enjoyable read that just may change your life!” ~ Anne McRitchie

“In a world full of empty platitudes, pumped up self-help fodder and tired buffets of re-heated leadership concepts, here is the book on leadership. Neil Gamble is a real leader, a man who genuinely loves people and hates the state of this world of ours with the harm it does to people every single day. At a time when nothing makes sense, this book does.” ~ Rachel Mascord

“Great how Neil doesn’t hold back – I agree, mandatory reading for humanity, it explains so much of what is going on under our very eyes.” ~ Sandra Newland

“This book makes so much sense and is very revealing of what we have all bought into. I couldn’t put it down.” ~ Deidre Medbury

In the words of the editor:

“During an unrelated conversation one day, I found out Neil was writing a book and asked if I could have a sneak peak, offering to give him feedback on his manuscript. This turned into a year-long project in which I had the privilege of reading every single word he wrote. I was inspired by his openness, his honesty, his complete willingness to expose everything including himself and his previous way of living. I read several of the chapters, time and time again, as we made further edits. I never, ever tired of reading the updated content because I knew each would represent a deepening, a further revelation of what he had witnessed and was able to call out.

“Neil’s long career as a globe-trotting executive is the foundation from which he writes so fluently about leadership. However, do not mistake this masterpiece as another ‘how to be in business’ book - although it is that. In truth, The Leadership Trance is a book about ‘how to be in life’. Leaving leadership up to politicians and CEO’s doesn’t appear to be working very well, does it? Neil proffers that ‘being a leader’ is all of our responsibility, equally.

“What if we collectively took responsibility for being leaders by virtue of the quality of our reflection as the Divine Beings that we are? There is no shelf-date on who can lead if this is the criteria of Leadership. Those of us in our elder years can be viable leaders right up to our last breath.”
