ONLY SKIN DEEP ~ THE BEAUTY OF AGEING

31/12/2020

Picture

It is not a death sentence. It is not a race to turn back time. It is not an achievement to look eternally youthful. The unsettlement in the body is unbearable when you want to maintain your youthful looks. Every moment that we reflect on how we can stay young we rob ourselves of the exquisite rite of passage in allowing ourselves to age.

'You are joking' you say? The only way I will embrace ageing is if I can do it with creams, potions, a little work and a lot of makeup.

But let's take a moment to consider the benefits and beauty of ageing which is far more than skin deep.

GROWING OUT THE 'GREYS'

31/12/2020

Picture

Not a day has gone by in eighteen months that I haven’t had a thought or a word said about my hair. Interesting, no?! After all, it’s just hair, right? Perhaps there is something odd or particularly unique about my hair? Different to everybody else’s perhaps? Short answer, no. Simple answer: I’ve been growing out my greys!

PURPOSE

30/10/2020

Picture
When I heard people speak of their purpose in life, I often wondered – ‘What was that for me?’ Beyond the many roles I played I always felt that there had to be more.

As a child I went to school to learn facts and figures, how to interact with others, become a team player – ‘Do your best’ was a strong influence in my family.

growing older – what does that look like?

1/7/2020

Picture
A long, long time ago I used to think anyone over the age of 40 was near dead – or should be! Back then anyone I knew of that age or even older seemed to look and act incredibly old and were very old fashioned and couldn’t possibly have any idea of what life was really about.

THE JOY OF LIVING PURPOSE

Picture
Artist:  Leigh Matson
As we grow older we are inclined to look forward to the next decade and decide how we would like to be, but it doesn’t work out like that. Is it a true purpose and does it get us anywhere, and anyway where are we trying to get to?

LIVING JOYFULLY IN OUR SEVENTIES

27/5/2020

Picture
Being now in my seventy-third year, I can say with all honesty that I am thoroughly enjoying this decade of my life. I have a sense of settlement and a contentment within my body that I have never felt before, which I feel stems from me now knowing that my purpose here on earth is to live the love that I am and listen to the wisdom from my body.

THE SIMPLICITY OF AGEING

30/4/2020

Picture
It is really very simple – ageing is about simplicity! When we are children we have a wonderful presence, a sense of ourselves, and a quality of being. I have noticed how often, if an adult has remained open to life and moved with the times, they regain that quality in their old age. Older people and the very young do often have a beautiful understanding, an honest and simple relationship.

THE JOY OF BEING 70 PLUS

30/4/2020

Picture

Birthdays over the years have quietly slipped by, they have not been recognised as important, maybe because partying was never my thing. It could also be said that if a birthday is forgotten or not acknowledged there would be no growing old!

KNOCKING ON THE DOOR OF 70

28/2/2020

Picture
I’m 69 years of age. Many of my friends have already turned 70. Perhaps some of you have had a reaction on those birthdays where we change decades; I have. But this, to me, seems like the decade-changing-birthday that will be most noticeable.

AND NOW I'M 70!

30/12/2019

Picture
Who would have thought that this day would come about and that it would be so full of joy? I know that this has a lot to do with Universal Medicine and the people I’m involved with on the Joy of Ageing Esoterically team. They are so positive and inspiring and they encourage me by their reflection, by their way of living, to be all that I am, can be, and can keep aspiring to be, as I go into my elder years.
